This class focuses on Addiction Pharmacology for the care of clients with Opioid dependency. This includes medically supervised detoxification, as well as an understanding of the medical use for suboxone, methadone, naloxone, and vivitrol. This training will orient participants to the evidence and efficacy for use of such medications.
This training will address the current epidemic in RI around Opioid overdose, prevention and naloxone to reverse overdose. It will also provide participants the opportunity to explore attitudes, values and beliefs associated with the use of medication in the treatment of addictive disorders.
The audience for this training would be those who need to meet the educational requirement for Medication Assisted Treatment for Certification; current LCDP’s who need classes for renewal; and Clinical staff who wish to learn more about Addiction and Pharmacology.
