This workshop, conducted by Mike Cerullo, LMHC, founding convener of What’s the Rush, RI? and a member of the Joint Legislative Commission to study Legalization of Marijuana for Recreational Use, will explore multiple facets of this complex issue including mental health, public health and safety, and societal impacts. The presentation will include interactive case studies, and discussion on marijuana’s role in the development of addiction, pragmatic object substitution, special considerations for work with court involved referrals, and treatment strategies appropriate to adolescents and emerging adults. Participants will be updated on local, national and international policy and research developments including the current status of RI’s Medicinal Marijuana program.
