This all day training will review the typical illicit substances of choice of children and adolescents. Both long and short effects of illicit substances will be reviewed as well as how substances affect the brain, specifically executive functioning. Other areas that will be addressed are how substances affect typical development in children and adolescents.
Co-occurring disorders in Children and adolescents will be addressed as we examine risks for substance use and other behaviors.
Effective evidence based treatment modalities will be examined in order to identify appropriate treatment planning for various settings.

Social Worker CEUs: Determination of 6.0 National Association of Social Workers credits are pending.
Chemical Dependency Professionals CEUs: This training has been approved by the RI Certification Board for 6.0 continuing education credits (The RICB is an IC&RC affiliate).
Mental Health Counselors CEUs: Determination of 6.0 RI Mental Health Counselors Association are pending.
