So you’ve either been promoted to a supervisor position, or want to become a clinical supervisor, or you just want to have a refresher course to keep your skills current. This 30-hour course fulfills the training requirements for either credentialing or re-credentialing supervisors in substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and recovery settings in RI and provides you advanced knowledge and skills in supervision. The course is based upon the 2004 edition of David Powell’s book” Clinical Supervision in Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counseling” and TIP 52: Clinical Supervision and Professional Development of the Substance Abuse Counselor [our course text -- participants will receive directions to download a copy]. This course presents guidelines for clinical supervision in the substance abuse treatment field. The course covers supervision methods and models, cultural competence, ethical and legal issues, and performance monitoring. The course totals 30 contact hours and introduces clinical supervisors, along with persons preparing to become supervisors, to the knowledge and skills essential to the practice of supervision.

Social Worker CEUs: Determination of 30.0 National Association of Social Workers credits are pending.
Chemical Dependency Professionals CEUs: This training has been approved by the RI Certification Board for 30.0 continuing education credits (The RICB is an IC&RC affiliate).
Mental Health Counselors CEUs: Determination of 30.0 RI Mental Health Counselors Association are pending.
